We have a show that you can't miss. Dr. Kurt Smith, PhD. from the Department of Forestry at NC State University, joins us to discuss critical issues impacting black land ownership. Black landownership has gone from over 30 percent down to six percent. One of the main reasons African Americans can't pass wealth to future generations is the need for more estate planning. Kurt hopes to contribute in part by helping landowners to retain forested land by educating landowners about heirs' property liabilities, succession planning, and making working lands both sustainable and profitable.
